Supporting Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) affect how people communicate, learn, and live independently. Conditions like Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and other developmental disabilities shape someone's experience—but they don't define their potential.
Finding the right support makes all the difference. It's not just about having somewhere to live—it's about finding a place where you belong, where someone knows your story, celebrates your wins, and supports you through challenges.
That's what Alora brings to Nebraska families.
Shared living creates real family connections. Unlike traditional group homes with rotating staff, our model pairs individuals with dedicated host families who provide consistent, personalized support in a true home environment.
Why Shared Living Works
Adults with IDD in shared living homes report stronger relationships, greater community involvement, and higher overall life satisfaction.
In Nebraska, we call this model "shared living"—a welcoming approach that combines professional support with the comfort and consistency of family life.
